Paul C. Smith

Mr. Smith is a Principal at Rural American Fund where his responsibilities include investment opportunity evaluation, structuring and negotiating new investments and exits, due diligence and portfolio company management.

Mr. Smith has more than 35 years of collective private equity, M&A, corporate finance, and management consulting experience and has executed many private equity, M&A, and equity and debt financing transactions.

Mr. Smith served as a Managing Director and a member of the Investment Committee of both Glencoe Capital and its affiliate Stockwell Capital where he oversaw the investment management activities of both firms. Mr. Smith served on the boards of directors of several Glencoe Capital portfolio companies, including Campbell Grinder and Fortis Energy Services.

Mr. Smith also has considerable experience in management consulting at Gillum Strategy Partners (formerly The Clement Group) where he provided strategic consulting advisory services across a wide range of industries. Previously, Mr. Smith was with CBIZ M&A Group, where he first met Tom Karlson and Mia Koch and provided M&A and financing advisory and execution services to middle-market clients.

Mr. Smith earned his BS degree (Cum Laude) in Finance and Economics from Miami University and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
